The Liwa Moreeb Dune Festival, taking place from late December 2025 to early January 2026, is a vibrant celebration of motorsports and Emirati culture set in the heart of the Al Dhafra region, Abu Dhabi. Held at the awe-inspiring Tal Moreeb, one of the world’s tallest sand dunes, the festival draws thrill-seekers and families alike for an unforgettable desert experience.
At the core of the event are adrenaline-fueled motorsport competitions, including the renowned Moreeb Dune Car Championship. Drivers compete to conquer the steep slopes of the dune in categories ranging from 6-cylinder turbo to 8-cylinder NOS and even electric vehicles, showcasing cutting-edge performance and engineering across three exciting days of racing.
Beyond the races, the festival offers a rich tapestry of cultural and family-friendly activities. Liwa Village, a dedicated cultural hub, immerses visitors in traditional Emirati heritage with themed zones, folk performances, local crafts, gourmet cuisine, and exhibitions. Families can also enjoy camel and horse races, falconry displays, a children’s play area, and live music from regional artists.
The festival reaches its peak with a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration, featuring major concerts and fireworks lighting up the desert sky. Blending speed, tradition, and celebration, the Liwa Moreeb Dune Festival promises a one-of-a-kind experience in the UAE’s majestic Empty Quarter.
